Your review comments have all been positive and the The DoubleTree is a newer hotel with a great atmosphere, history, indoor pool, in house TGIF restaurant with other chains within easy walking distance. It is also easier to access the hotel right off I-40 at exit 50 with plenty of free parking in front and behind the hotel. In addition to the two days of educational programs, commercial exhibitors, and entertaining banquet, is the opportunity to meet with other growers. The educational session will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9th and conclude on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 10th with the exhibits open both days. We will have our annual banquet on Tuesday evening, with after dinner entertainment!
This year’s educational program includes speakers with a wide range of expertise. On the first day of the program we will have an emphasis on topics of importance such as marketing, food safety, insurance and apple varieties. On the second day, we will address orchard management and production related topics such as weed, insect, and disease management. We have invited speakers, in addition to those from the southeast that provide information as well as several grower panels to pass on valuable information. We are especially looking forward to Dr. Kerik Cox, a Plant Pathologist from Cornell University to discuss disease management issues. It is exciting to have the NCSU apple team expanding over the past several years and participating in this meeting. Pesticide recertification credit will be available at the end of the program on Wednesday, January 10th. Please take a look at the enclosed program to see the many topics that are going to be addressed. There will be an Auxiliary program with planned activities for those interested.
